‘Titantic’ And ‘Avatar’ Producer Jon Landau Lists Florida Keys Home For $13.9 Million

Jon Landau, the producer of Titanic and Avatar, has put his property in Islamorada, Florida on the market for $13.9 million. The waterfront property is currently the most expensive listing in the village of six islands just 90 minutes south of Miami.

The stunning property encompasses almost four oceanfront acres. At the entrance, an exceptional custom gate offers a preview of what’s to come. A winding driveway surrounded by lush foliage and highlighted at night with beautiful landscape lighting ushers guests to the Balinese-influenced architecturally designed home, identified by its pitched, flared roofs and exposed trusses together with round columns covered in imported green stone.

These elements are intended to balance the natural beauty surrounding the home inside and out. Upon entering the home, the full majesty of the sweeping ocean views captivates guests.

The main home is accented by stunning woodwork, including custom carved doors in every room with intricate detailing. Entertaining is a dream in the gourmet kitchen, complete with an eat-at-bar counter. Or one can dine in the adjacent dining area with an ocean view or out on the waterfront porches.

Say good-bye to towers of canned goods with the walk-in pantry showcasing intricately wood-carved shelving, a butler’s pantry and a laundry room. A temperature-controlled 1,000-plus bottle wine cellar with a computerized barcode scanning system guarantees you’ll never run out of your favorites. The main living room opens to the balcony overlooking the ocean, pool, hot tub with fire pit, beach area and exquisite gardens.

The porch is the ideal location for spotting the abundant sea life residing in the Atlantic waters at the dock. A coral wall fireplace accents the high ceilings. Moving onto the office/den, guests will find a full bath and access to the balcony area. The spacious main suite is just past the study with a private balcony and luxurious bathroom, which is a serene escape with a shower, soaking tub and dual vanities.

The main closet is a focal point all on its own with its spacious design and size. The other side of the home has a large oceanfront bedroom with an en suite bathroom.

The porches connect to the guest pod just mere steps away. The guest pod has multiple entrances for privacy and is easily sectioned off. The area in the guest pod features two bedrooms, a full bath and a private balcony overlooking the garden. The second area in the guest pod is a private one-bedroom, plus a full bath, which connects to the screening room and additional balcony. All porches overlook stone pathways that lead you through the gardens.

As one descends either side of the custom wood staircase in the back of the home, the mesmerizing ocean views and the one-of-a-kind pool are beautifully highlighted. The stunning infinity-edge pool runs across the back of the home, capturing the ocean views and breezes. Here you will also find the hot tub accented by a fire pit in the center and custom lighting.

Oceanfront boating is a breeze with deep-water dockage and two lifts at the end of the dock. If you prefer to take it slow, take out the paddleboards to enjoy the ocean. How about a quick dip into the ocean from your private staircase at the end of the dock where you are surrounded by tropical fish and wildlife. Imagine exploring an underwater world by snorkeling from your own property.

A sweeping breezeway with a summer kitchen, professional gym, outfitted game room and tackle room rounds out the amenities. Here you will also find plenty of covered storage and a 7,000-gallon saltwater pond with tropical fish. Finish off the day with an evening game of tennis at the private lighted tennis court. Make sure to give guests a tour of the gardens where all the flora is labeled and identified by QR codes.

Landau is planning to spend the next few years in New Zealand filming “Avatar” sequels, according to Mansion Global.

“Bali Hai is an extraordinary property from its dramatic Balinese architecture to all the amenities of a resort in your own private estate,” said listing agent Joy Martin of American Caribbean Real Estate, an affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate. “The craftsmanship, materials and dramatic, yet harmonious design make Bali Hai a stand-alone offering in the marketplace today. The ideal buyer is one who appreciates a unique trophy property at its highest standards and wants to live in an inviting island community.”
